Uncertainty in the ag sector is nothing new. However, the level of uncertainty for all areas of agriculture has ramped up in 2025. Rob Larew, president of the National Farmers Union, says that U.S. agriculture needs more stable ground to stand on to be as efficient and productive as possible without the fears of increased uncertainty.
One of the biggest factors adding to uncertainty is the lack of a new five-year farm bill. Despite numerous hurdles in Congress that must be cleared, Larew says that a new farm bill in 2025 simply must happen.
Larew adds that Congress needs to be strategic in the push for a new farm bill to ensure a new and modernized farm bill can reach the finish line.
