President Trump was in Iowa on Tuesday to deliver a speech, campaigning to hold onto the House and Senate in the midterm elections. President Trump pushed back against critics of his tariff policies in front of an Iowa audience including many farmers. Trump says his tariffs have delivered export wins for Iowa farmers, including for corn ethanol.
Other nations, including Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia will eliminate duties on U.S. agriculture products, and Australia will allow in U.S. beef for the first time in 20-years. Trump says other nations, including the U.K., will also import U.S. ethanol.
The EU plans to significantly increase its purchases of U.S. pork, dairy and soybean oil.
According to Trump, even though farmers first felt the impact of losses from tariffs, the outcome is favorable.
Trump added that China will purchase $40 billion or more in U.S. soybeans. By comparison, Treasury Secretary Bessent’s earlier volume estimates translate to a little more than $34 billion in sales over three years.
