Troubleshooting seed singulation issues while planting

by | May 8, 2023 | 5 Ag Stories, News

Proper seed placement while planting can help to ensure the success of your growing season before any plants have sprouted from the soil. Seed singulation in planting is the measurement of how well a meter is dropping one seed at a time. If singulation drops below 100%, skips or doubles are taking place while planting.

Accurate singulation and seed placement are crucial to maximizing yield. A seed singulation issue while planting needs to be addressed right away says Brent Johnson region manager at Wyffels Hybrids.

Johnson says proper vacuum pressure is typically one of the first things to check for when encountering a plantability problem.

Adjustment of vacuum pressure is regularly the solution for a singulation issue says Johnson.

If vac adjustments have not solved the issue, Johnson says there may be an underlying issue with your planter.

He says sometimes a seed singulation problem is a simple fix.
