Yesterday, we talked about the beginning of National 4-H Week, the importance of the program for the kids, and that it goes beyond the impression that it is a program only for rural communities. It offers activities and life lessons that can help our kids develop into model citizens as they grow up.
While it is a great program that gets great support from the extension services in each state, there is still more that is needed to keep these programs running and keeping the kids engaged. That is why from noon today until noon tomorrow is 4-H Giving Day,
Emily Saveraid is the Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation, and she talks to us about the importance of 4-H Giving Day, and how you can support your local programs or others around the state. It is also a time when 4-H alumni can share their stories, not only to honor National 4-H Week but also to help generate more awareness and more funds to help programs.
Saveraid explains that giving to 4H is really an investment in the future of our communities, and for some of those smaller towns, it is an investment that is very important.
