There?s more to worry about than ASF

For the past few years, we have been paying very close attention to the movement of African Swine Fever (ASF) around the globe. The United States has been very diligent and has kept it off our shores for some time. While the focus has been on ASF, there are still other health issues that hogs are facing in our country. We cannot turn a blind eye to those just for the sake of monitoring ASF.

Dr. Liz Wagstrom is Chief Veterinarian for the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC). She talks about the other issues that are creeping up around the country, and what farmers should be concerned about.

The tricky part is that many of the diseases Wagstrom talked about have symptoms that also could be found in ASF. Therefore, NPPC is urging producers to keep close contact with their veterinarians, to make sure we stay ahead of the game.

Wagstrom also talks about the new comeback of APP. She says it is a disease that is not as prevalent as it once was.
