The market for used equipment remains hot

For the past year or more, quality used equipment has been a hot commodity in agriculture. Machinery that is a few decades old is still bringing near new prices. In one instance we heard about a farmer selling a tillage tool for only 10,000 less than he paid for it 25 years prior. Of course, this is due to the supply chain and the waiting list for new equipment. As of now, the market shows no sign of slowing down.

Michael Bacon is Senior Director for National Accounts at Big Iron Auctions. He talks about the market for used equipment and gives us some background on Big Iron?s service.

Bacon says that they have been gauging the market for their selling customers. They want them to be able to make top dollar during this situation. Bacon says they talk with the manufacturers at Ag shows to figure out the timetable for them getting inventory back up to full strength. As of now, it is hard to determine when that will be. So, if you are looking to sell, now is your time.

Bacon says that the advantage that Big Iron can offer their customers is that they are full-service. You get the item cleaned up and maintained, and they will do the rest.

Bacon says that it is easy to start the buying or selling process.
