In row crop agriculture, farmers generally know which diseases and pests they will likely face in their fields during the growing season. However, this season has managed to deliver some surprises to soybean growers.
That is Ryan Dunsbergan soybean product manager with Golden Harvest. He says that white mold has made its way farther south than where it is traditionally found.
White mold is identified by the white, cotton-like and moldy growth on the soybean plant. Dunsbergan says it can be a difficult disease to deal with.
The soybean cyst nematode is an ever-present threat to soybeans and this growing season has been particularly challenging due to environmental factors says Dunsbergan.
He says 2024 will offer a wide range of soybean varieties from Golden Harvest.
