South American Weather and Crop Update (11-8-22)

by | Nov 8, 2022 | 5 Ag Stories, News

Rain is spread out across several forecasts for South America. This is welcomed in most areas, as they?ve been seeing some fairly dry conditions as of late. Allendale commodity broker Greg McBride provided a look at the weather patterns for Brazil and Argentina.

McBride added that some areas of Brazil were almost a little too wet, but they?ve mostly dried out by now and could handle some more rain.

McBride said planting is a little behind last year?s pace in Brazil, but it?s still well ahead of the averages.

As for Argentina, the dry conditions mean they?re a bit behind where they?d like to be. McBride said they?ve only seen updates on corn progress, which is slightly concerning for this time of year.

To us, the dry weather sounds great for planting season, but McBride said the different soil types in Argentina need more moisture to be workable.

McBride also noted some other factors for Iowa producers to consider.
