The winter of 2024-2025 has not provided much moisture to the state of Iowa to help replenish the soil moisture profile. Last week’s rainfall provided a much-needed shot to the arm but overall, the winter has been mostly mild with little in the way of rain and snow.
While the state of Iowa is still in fairly good shape, roughly the northern two thirds of Iowa is in a state of moderate drought condition heading into the growing season. Mark Storr, a field tech service representative with BASF, says there are some concerns about dryness for most of Iowa’s growers.
Storr says that cost concerns and resistant weeds are top of mind for farmers ahead of growing season 2025.
He expands on some of the technologies available from BASF to help growers battle difficult weeds.
Storr says that BASF is happy to answer questions throughout the season from farmers and to help them solve problems.
