Solinftec, a global leader in artificial intelligence solutions and sustainable agriculture practices, showcased the latest technology in the Solix AG Robotics Platform at this year’s Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois. Specifically, the Sprayer robot was on display. The Solix Sprayer is able to make precise applications of herbicides, which allows for extremely efficient weed control. Brady Gick, research and development project manager, talked about the development of the Solix Sprayer.

After a limited scale commercial pilot year, the Solix Sprayer saw a reduction in herbicide usage of up to 95% while still being able to keep fields clean of invasive weeds. While they definitely anticipated good results, Gick said he’s shocked by just how efficient the sprayer was.

Solinftec is also investing $5 million directly into its manufacturing efforts, which will allow for the capacity to produce up to 800 robots annually. But there’s been so much immediate interest that Gick said there’s already a waiting list for farmers who are interested in trying Solix out.

Gick said they’re also working on more developments to make the Solix Sprayer more autonomous and easier to monitor.

Solinftec is reinforcing its partnerships with the Carroll FS, Co-Alliance, and Premiere Ag coops to make the Solix Sprayer technology more readily available to farmers. For more information, visit solinftec.com.
