Secretary Naig’s Year in Review (part 2)

by | Dec 31, 2024 | 5 Ag Stories, News

Yesterday, we started a year in review with Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig, and today we will conclude our look back on the year that was for Agriculture in our state.

You can’t start another look into 2024 without talking about the Iowa State Fair. It’s the biggest showcase of Iowa Agriculture throughout the year, and this year gave us record-setting attendance and a great chance to tell our story.

Naig says he already has a countdown until the first stop at the Dairy Barn for a shake.

At the beginning of the year, the Ag industry across the country was rocked by the passing of former Iowa Ag Secretary and USDA Undersecretary Bill Northey. Naig talks about the determined, yet humble legacy Bill left for this industry and what he meant to farmers across the country.

As Naig looks back on 2024, he is going to look back on this year and use that to shape his department’s outlook in 2025.

There you have it, just a few of the highlights we had in the year drawing to a close today. We look forward to 2025 with a renewed sense of hope and confidence that we can do what Iowa does best; help feed and clothe the world.
