Through a collaborative effort and innovation involving ag groups and agribusiness, the first B99 biodiesel terminal in Iowa was unveiled today in Des Moines. The B99 terminal is located at the Pilot’s Des Moines travel center and is one of only two B99 retail pumps in the country dedicated for commercial usage. The other is located at Pilot’s Decatur Illinois travel center.

The B99 terminal is designed for fleet use by PepsiCo and other commercial fleets and was made possible through collaboration by Pilot Travel Centers LLC, and Optimus Technologies.
Optimus Technologies helped to facilitate the launch of the terminal by developing engine technology which upgrades diesel engines to be able to operate with 100% biodiesel.
Eric Fobes is the head of renewables with Pilot and says that customers have asked for lower carbon solutions in trucking and this terminal helps to provide that.
Dave Walton of the Iowa Soybean Association and Iowa Biodiesel Board says that this demonstration of real-world adoption of high biodiesel blends is a big milestone.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says that this project shows the value of a collaborative effort in the agriculture industry.
