There are many conversations about how farms will save money in 2025. Producers are looking for ways to trim the budget, but cutting corners is a slippery slope. If you slash your inputs too much, your crops could be in serious danger.
This year we heard many stories about fields with more insect or disease damage than normal because we saw farmers cutting budgets for crop protection products. Gail Stratman of FMC says that this is the last place you want to slash and burn on your budget. Precision applications and trimming is one thing, but you can’t cut corners.
Now, more than ever, precision Ag tools are going to be important for your crop plans. If you have hesitated to gather more in-depth info, now is the time to make those prescriptive decisions. You might be amazed at the savings you can find.
What it comes down to is that if we cut corners on crop protection now, it could leave us a more expensive problem in the future. If we let diseases, pests, and weeds get a stronger footing, it will take more resources in the future to gain back the ground we’ve lost.
