Rural America is becoming the home of more data centers to power artificial intelligence. Jeff Johnston, Lead Economist for Infrastructure with CoBank, says the rural areas of the United States are helping to lead the charge forward for AI technology.
Johnston says that the stakes are high as major technology companies are spending a lot of money to establish data centers.
AI developments go hand in hand with the effort to close the broadband gap in rural America. For both initiatives to be successful, infrastructure must improve, says Johnston.
