A company delivering more than 150,000 food and related products to customers across the United States carries a new high-performance soybean oil.
Performance Food Group announced plans to offer DuPont Pioneer Plenish ? at the 2017 Farm Progress Show. Brian Buckallew is senior production system manager for DuPont Pioneer. Buckallew said the partnership will benefit DuPont Pioneer?s soybean farmers.
?It will help soybean farmers add value back to their operation,? Buckallew said. ?On average, we (will) add $30/acre back to the farm. It?ll bring value back to our growers, as well as us at Pioneer.?
Plenish ? is a high oleic soy-based product, offering functional and consumer benefits. Buckallew compared Plenish ? to other available edible oils.
?It is a high oleic soybean product. It offers more stability compared to commodity oils and soybeans, as it has a mono-saturated fatty acid profile,? Buckallew said.
Plenish ? contains 20 percent less saturated fat than commodity soybean oil, encompasses approximately 75 percent heart-healthy mono-saturated fats and zero trans-fats per serving. The oil also allows for a longer fry life, two to three times longer than commodity soybean oil and can be used in high temperature applications, where soybean oil cannot.
High oleic soy oil continues to expand its reach, and Buckallew thinks various partnerships will provide additional product opportunities.
?We are excited to see acres grow, in partnership with United States Soybean Board. This has been an outstanding cooperation, within the soybean industry, to help bring back market share on soybean oil that we have lost to other oils such as palm oil and canola oil,? Buckallew said.
