The World Pork Expo, held every year at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa, is an excellent opportunity for pork industry leaders to gather and discuss the top issues they are facing. National Pork Producers Council President-Elect Rob Brenneman is preparing to take over the organization next year, so he knows first-hand the value of meeting with producers and other industry leaders in person. Brenneman said he appreciates the gradual approach that the NPPC takes to get their new leadership in office.

Looking at the current swine economy, Brenneman said things are looking much better this year than they have in recent years.

While they have no direct influence on a potential farm bill, Brenneman said they are campaigning hard for a new one to be written as soon as possible.
