A mythbusting campaign from the National Pork Board is aiming to dispel misconceptions about the pork industry.

The National Pork Board has launched the Real Pork Mythbusting campaign, which features Emmy-award winning actor Eric Stonestreet. According to Rich Deaton, National Pork Board board of directors member, these Real Pork Mythbusting videos have exceeded expectations.

?We’ve reached 16 million impressions, far exceeded anything I anticipated. And of those 16 million 155,000 People went on and clicked on the link to pork.org/ruraldictionary.?

Deaton says the National Pork Board has found that the educational videos have increased consumer confidence in the pork industry and in purchasing pork products.

?Around 50 percent were more favorable about the pork industry and around 35 percent are more likely to buy more pork. And so, again, how do you put a number to all that? Our return on the investment in my mind as a board member was great. It’s fantastic.?

Deaton talks about more successes of the campaign including the reduction of the number of consumers who were concerned about eating pork products.

?Success was, in my mind launching into it was, if we could reduce that 33 percent. Of that 33 percent, If we could get them to reconsider, maintaining pork purchases or increase their pork purchases.?

National Pork Board president Gene Noem says the campaign has helped bust myths about pork production by redefining common sayings about pigs.

?We redefine common sayings about pigs to show that pig farmers are committed to doing what?s right for people, pigs and the planet. The videos have received more than 14 million views and made headlines in more than 200 news outlets.?
