As we head into fall, we reminisce about the summer and the fairs and festivals that were are a part of our summer plans. We especially remember the barns full of animals and the buildings bursting with projects from our young, local 4-H members. They are part of the biggest draws to fairs around the state, and we are always surprised by the level of discipline and work that they put into every project. But there is so much more to 4-H than the livestock and projects.
Emily Saveraid is the Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation. She talks about the importance of celebrating the 4-H organization.
Emily says that 4-H goes well beyond just raising livestock. It is often mistaken as just another Ag activity, but the truth is, it is for every kid through every walk of life. Beyond the fair projects, it gives kids the tools to succeed now and as adults.
