One of the longest-running dairy nutrition conferences in the country will take place again this year from June 3-4 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The Four-State Dairy Nutrition and Management Conference- a collaboration between the extension services of Iowa State University, the University of Illinois, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Wisconsin- aims to challenge current industry standards and provide insight into herd health and efficiency. Fred Hall, Northwest Iowa extension dairy specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, said the event is split into three main parts, starting with a Pre-Conference Symposium on June 3rd.

Hall said the main conference starts in the afternoon that same day, and it will focus on what the next production jump is for the dairy industry and honor farmers who have achieved elite production in their dairy herds.

Hall said the last day of the conference will focus on the usage of high-oleic soybeans in dairy feed and how producers have benefited from it.

Hall said the event will conclude on the afternoon of the 4th with a post-conference session on optimizing alfalfa usage in dairy rations and will feature a tour of the Forage Genetics International Research Center in West Salem, Wisconsin.

In addition, there is a trade show with over 40 companies exhibiting their latest products. On top of the opportunity to visit directly with the companies making those innovations, Hall said attendees get a great opportunity to mingle with other producers in the four-state area and learn more from each other.
