In December, Midwest Dairy officials are looking back on the successes of the year 2021 for U.S. dairy farmers.

Midwest Dairy CEO Molly Pelzer talks about some of the big wins for Midwest Dairy farmers.

?Well, this pandemic certainly brought challenges over the last nearly two years for our staff and our new strategic plan. But our focus remains on our dairy promotion and research work. We’ve prioritized helping today’s consumers know about the wellness benefits offered by dairy as we face a global pandemic with our heightened consumer concern also about dairy sustainability. So, we’re dedicating ourselves as staff at Midwest Dairy to share dairy?s story about being good for you and being made with care for the planet.?

Pelzer looks ahead to 2022 and says one of the top goals is reaching the younger generations.

?For 2022, we’ll continue to focus on that sustainable nutrition, dairy good for you and good for the planet. And we’re also focusing our efforts on remaining top of mind with that Gen Z consumer, Generation Z, that ten to 24 year old audience. We are very excited about reaching them to share dairy?s story.?

In order to reach Generation Z, Pelzer says that work starts in schools.

?A lot of those ten to 24 year old?s are still attending school and many times that school nutrition department, whether it’s at college or a K-12 building is the largest restaurant in the community. And we’re going to invest in creative programs to promote a love for dairy that nourishes students as well. Outside of school, we’re looking to reach those millennial and Gen Z consumers with dairy sustainable nutrition stories. We’re certainly active in social media, and we’re finding great results with our E-commerce campaign. More and more Americans are purchasing their groceries online and we’re excited about the opportunity to make sure that dairy is on that grocery list.?

Pelzer added Midwest Dairy will also be exploring dairy?s impact with grades 8-12.
