So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth. -Revelation 3:16
For the past couple of weeks our air conditioner has been broken.
It was miserable being in the house, especially on the days that it reached 80 degrees. I would sweat just sitting in the room.
We just recently got it fixed, but I found myself freezing.
In a day our house went from one extreme to another. There was no middle ground.
The example of my house temperature reminds me of what scripture says about hot and cold, and the importance of having a hot faith.
You?re either an all-in as a Jesus follower or you?re not.
Being spiritually lukewarm is like being hot enough to make it to church most Sundays, but cold enough to down play Christianity when it?s not convenient or profitable to you.
Our churches seem to be filled with complacent Christians who are quite content to live in the gray areas, not wanting to get too uncomfortable.
So who are you? What is your spiritual temperature?
How many areas of your life are you content with just being lukewarm?
Let’s begin burning brightly for Him, constantly stoking the fire of our faith to guard ourselves against lukewarm living.
Prayer: “God, help me to not live in the middle of hot and cold. Help me to live a life on fire for you and your kingdom. In your name I pray, Amen.”
