Left Lane Driver

A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. -Luke 10:31

I am a left lane driver on the interstate. I am always the car flying past the people going the speed limit.

I am always leaving cars behind in my dust.

When I passed a car recently, I felt God say “You pass people by in life just like you do on the road.”

Yikes. Talk about an immediate conviction from the Holy Spirit.

I was immediately reminded of the story of the good Samaritan.

I realized that I related more to the priest and the Levite who passed the man laying on the side of the road, instead of the Samaritan who slowed down, stopped what he was doing, and cancelled his plans for the rest of the day to help a stranger in need.

Are you like me? Are you passing people by? Are you missing people God wants you to notice?

Refuse to be a left lane driver.

Prayer: “God, forgive me for breezing past the people that you place in front of me to see. Help me to slow down and to not pass people by. In your name I pray, Amen.”
