Landus helps farmers capture extra value this harvest

Iowa farmers now have a fast and simple way to add profit to their soybeans this harvest — with no change in how they farm or market their crop. Landus has launched a Clean Fuel Regulation (CFR) program that connects local growers to export markets in Canada that value sustainably grown soybeans.

Blake Hoover, Landus Director of Soy Processing Sales & Marketing, says the opportunity comes from Canada’s national clean fuel policy, which requires renewable fuels in its energy mix.

Signing up is simple. Landus growers receive a unique link to a digital form that takes less than five minutes to complete. Craig Mouchka, Landus Director of Sustainability, says it’s designed to be straightforward and low-burden.

Mouchka says this isn’t just about this year’s crop — it positions Iowa farmers for the future of biofuels.

The program requires no long-term commitments, giving farmers flexibility while still adding value to their soybeans. All processing happens at Landus’ Ralston facility, the largest of its kind in the U.S., with soybean oil sold to renewable diesel makers and the finished fuel flowing into Canada. In 2024, the program returned $750,000 in added premiums to participating farmers, and Landus leaders expect even greater returns as more growers enroll this year.

With farm margins tight, Mouchka and Hoover say this is a practical way to add value at harvest. Enrollment is open until delivery, with a soft deadline of September 15.
