As of October 1st, there is a new leader of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA). Mitchell County, Iowa Farmer Chris Edgington has taken on the role of President. He will hold the office for the next year. He is ready to use the lessons he has learned on his family?s operation to guide the NCGA forward over the next year. He ran down some of his goals for the year at a press conference on Tuesday.

Working on the family farm through the years with his dad, brother, and son has given Edgington the tools he will need to be an effective leader on the national level. He says cooperation is the key to success.

Edgington said his passion for making all family farms better is what drove him to seek a spot in the board at NCGA. It has also helped him at the state and local levels. He laid out his goals for the coming year. These include market expansion and growing trust in corn?s sustainability for the future.

Edgington says that he hopes the Biden Administration will be proactive on their plans for engaging China on trade. He also wants to see improvements with our other trading partners, like Southeast Asia, Mexico, and Canada.

Getting Year-round E15 sales back is another goal Edgington has, but it will prove to be a tough row to hoe.

Edgington will serve as NCGA President until September 30th, 2022.
