Iowa farmers can take a close look at strip till practices

by | Jul 15, 2025 | 5 Ag Stories, News

Even though it’s been around for over 50 years, strip tillage is still a fairly new conservation practice that farmers can use. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is hosting a field day at the end of this month to show off how strip tillage works and what benefits it can provide. Extension Agronomist Rebecca Vittatoe said they will have 12 strip till bars on display at the event.

Vittatoe said they will also have a guest speaker- Levi Powell with the ISU Digital Ag Innovation Group- who can answer any questions about the details around strip till practices.

Vittatoe said the field day also functions as a pre-conference event leading up to the National Strip Till Conference, which runs July 31st-August 1st in Iowa City.
