The Iowa Beef Industry Council (IBIC) and New York Beef Council are putting their best burgers on the table- literally- in the battle for bragging rights of the definitive ?Best Burger.? The contest, which started May 24, is encouraging consumers to vote for either Iowa?s Bino Burger or New York?s Hot & Smokey Candied Bacon Burger.

Bambino?s, located in Ossian, Iowa, received Iowa?s 2021 Best Burger Award on May 3. The restaurant?s unassuming appearance hides ?the burger-lover?s burger,? appropriately titled The Bino Burger. It features an all-beef burger patty with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion serving as the base. Customers can customize their burgers with bacon, eggs, onion rings, hash browns, and more to craft their own ultimate burger experience. Iowa?s Best Burger Contest is sponsored by the IBIC through the Iowa State Beef Checkoff and the Iowa Cattlemen?s Association.

Towards the northeast tip of the country, Syracuse?s Ale ?n? Angus Pub won the Best New York Burger Contest on May 10. The contest, made possible with funding from the IBIC, aims to help bridge the gap between beef production in the Midwest and Northeastern consumers. The Hot & Smokey Candied Bacon Burger features an 8-ounce Angus beef patty dressed with jack cheese, candied bacon, house-made onion spread, chipotle mayonnaise, and honey.

Iowans are encouraged to vote for Bambino?s Bino Burger through the online nomination form on the Iowa Beef website, located here: https://www.iabeef.org/events/best-burger-contest/burger-battle. The nomination period closes at 11:59 p.m. on May 30, 2021.
