Inaugural statewide Choose Iowa farm store crawl set for June 21-22

On Wednesday Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced the inaugural statewide Choose Iowa Farm Store Crawl which will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 21-22. The two-day event will also coincide with the Iowa Barn Foundation’s (IBF) Spring Barn Tour in Cedar County.

According to a press release from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, the Choose Iowa Farm Store Crawl promotes on-farm retail and agritourism by showcasing Choose Iowa members’ farms, small businesses, farm-to-table restaurants and farmers markets. The event highlights Iowa grown, Iowa made, and Iowa raised food, beverages and agricultural products, including horticulture.

Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says that the list of Choose Iowa members participating is available at ChooseIowa.com.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship says that consumers can plan their Crawl using digital itineraries with suggested routes to explore. Many of the participants will also offer additional deals and coupons via the Choose Iowa Passport, a free digital platform that was launched in partnership with Travel Iowa.

Naig says that the Choose Iowa Farm Store Crawl will help to promote Iowa ag products in conjunction with the IBF Spring Barn Tour.

Secretary Naig adds that shoppers will have a wide range of Iowa grown and Iowa made products to select from while on the tour.
