Just as the cattle industry as a whole is always changing, the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association has also seen plenty of change this year. This includes the CEO position, where Bryan Whaley has stepped in and led the organization over the past year. Speaking at the annual Iowa Cattle Industry Convention this week, Whaley said it’s been an exciting first year for him as CEO.

Whaley said he’s very optimistic about the direction of the ICA heading into 2025.

As usual, one of the main priorities for the ICA will be foreign animal disease management. This year was definitely a learning experience with the spread of H5N1 to dairy cattle. Whaley said it will be especially important to make sure they are being proactive and not reactive when it comes to managing diseases like this.
