Hopes are for a permanent E15 fix by summer?s end

We have been going around in circles for a few years over the ability to obtain E15 year-round sales. We had a solution back in 2019 but we all know about the court battle that rescinded the Trump EPA work-around. This means it is up to Congress to make a decision after President Biden gave it an emergency pass earlier this year in Menlo, Iowa. That pass is only for this summer.

The House passed a version of the legislation necessary, attached to some livestock bills. Geoff Cooper is the President & CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association. He says it is now up to the Senate.

The path forward in the upper chamber seems to have a vehicle available to attach it. That is through the Cattle Market Transparency Act from Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley. There is a very good chance he would be willing to attach E15 legislation to his bill.

Fortunately for supporters, there is plenty of bipartisan support from Midwest lawmakers to get it moved.

Obviously, gas prices will be one of the top issues in this year?s elections.
