And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.” -Exodus 33:14

restHarold almost always is out of bed before I am in the morning. I never have been one of those people that enjoy rising early. Therefore, I am usually still sleeping when he wakes up.

I have noticed that as soon as Harold climbs out of bed, I realize immediately that his presence is no longer next to me. I can have my back turned and be completely asleep, but something happens when he exits that bed that my body just knows he’s missing.

The bed gets lonely, and rest gets a little harder to obtain.

Life without the presence of the Holy Spirit is like that.

As soon as the Holy Spirit is not present, right next to you, you can feel it. Life becomes a lot more lonelier. It’s a lot harder to find the rest that you desire.

We need the presence of the Holy Spirit constantly. We should never want to be anywhere that the Lord isn’t.

Today, spend some extra time with the Holy Spirit. Allow Him to give you rest that you can only receive from Him.

Prayer: “Lord, thank you for the gift of your presence. Thank you that it makes me feel safe and loved. Help me to always be where you are. In your name I pray, Amen.”
