As indicated by the results of the Pro Farmer Crop Tour, the crops in Iowa are looking good as we head into the end of the growing season. However, that doesn’t mean that there still aren’t some issues to look out for. Travis Ralfs, Eastern Iowa territory account manager with Valent, said there has been plenty of rain, but now diseases are starting to creep in.
Ralfs said that extreme heat and excessive moisture- both of which we have seen in Iowa recently- can create ideal conditions for diseases to spread rapidly.
It’s a bit late for farmers to be able to do too much to actively stop the spread of disease, but Ralfs said there are plenty of things that farmers can do earlier in the season to manage disease pressure.
Ralfs said Valent offers several products that can help farmers get ahead on managing pests and diseases.
