United States Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is calling on House Speaker Mike Johnson to act quickly on year-round E15 in the House Rules Committee. This follows a delay for the legislation in a move to appease Republicans from oil rich states.
Grassley says that Speaker Johnson made a promise to Iowa Congressmen Randy Feenstra (R-IA) after Feenstra failed in his attempt to reach a compromise with oil refiners.
Grassley was also asked about blending exemptions for smaller refineries and reduced RFS compliance.
Senator Grassley also discussed President Trump’s upcoming visit to China and whether the meeting with President Xi Jinping could yield positive results for U.S. farmers.
China agreed to buy 12 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans in the final months of last year and 25 million tons this year and the next two years. Senator Grassley made his comments on Friday during his weekly ag conference call with farm broadcasters and reporters.
