The ethanol industry says that year-round E15 is a national security issue and belongs in the annual defense bill which is now before Congress. United States Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) says that he supports year-round E15 as part of the bill and he has others in the Senate that also approve.
Amy Klobuchar is the top Democrat on the Senate Ag Committee.
Grassley adds that he is confident in receiving support for the inclusion of year-round E15 in the defense bill from Senate Majority Leader John Thune.
Grassley also lays out the case for a back-up plan if E15 does not make it into the defense bill.
Senator Grassley made his comments on Tuesday during his weekly ag conference call with farm broadcasters and reporters.
