The farm bill is often known as one of the most bipartisan pieces of legislation that Congress works on each cycle. United States Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) says that during this year’s attempt to create a new five-year farm bill, he noticed a shift in attitudes.

He says he has been involved in helping to craft several farm bills during his time in Congress and while there have been sticking points in the past, this attempt led to more partisan disagreement than ever before.

In echoing his recent statements about attempting to put together a new five-year farm bill next year, Grassley once again stressed the need for the bill to be completed early in the year.

This fall has featured an outbreak of bird flu in Iowa which has led to numerous discoveries of the disease throughout the state but Senator Grassley says that he is satisfied with the response to the disease from state officials.

Grassley says that he is surprised to see bird flu spread this much throughout Iowa in November when outbreaks typically occur in the spring.

Senator Grassley made his comments Tuesday morning during his weekly ag conference call with farm broadcasters and reporters.
