After Congress included farm bill improvements in the reconciliation bill, talk in Washington D.C. shifted to crafting a “skinny farm bill” before the end of 2025. The scaled down version of the traditional farm bill would address the remaining ag programs that were not included in the reconciliation bill which updated key farm safety net programs.
On Tuesday, United States Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) was asked about the Senate calendar and if there is enough time left in the year to pass a farm bill.
Grassley acknowledges that it might be more realistic to expect a farm bill in 2026.
Senator Grassley made his comments on Tuesday during his weekly ag conference call with farm broadcasters and reporters.
