The annual Governor’s Charity Steer Show at the Iowa State Fair is a great chance for Iowa youth to compete for “best in show” while raising money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa. Brenda Miller Executive Director – Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa says the money goes to a very important cause.

All of the money from the Charity Steer Show makes an impact with the Ronald McDonald House chapters in Iowa says Miller.

There are three Ronald McDonald House chapters located in Sioux City, Des Moines, and Iowa City. Ronald McDonald House Charities provide a place for families to stay at little to no cost, keeping families with sick children together and near the care and resources they need when travelling to an Iowa hospital for treatment.

Miller says that among the three Ronald McDonald House chapters in Iowa, families from all 99 counties have been helped with a place to stay while seeking treatment.
She says that the Friday before the show is set aside for bringing together all the participants from the show and their families to the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines.

Everyone that participates in the Governor’s Charity Steer Show is doing so in order to give back to a great cause. However, many of the participants in the show have a connection to Ronald McDonald House according to Miller.
