This year, like many years prior, has been throwing curveballs. We are seeing dry conditions suddenly becoming wet, and crops that were under stress now suddenly growing to their potential. It has got farmers scratching their heads and thinking about if they need to adjust their plans. One of those areas they are analyzing is their fungicide applications.
Dry weather usually decreases the pressure we see from a lot of the fungal diseases we battle, however, the increase in moisture that we are starting to see in Iowa has got the chances of diseases arriving again. Some fields are already seeing some creep in. Zach Trower is a Syngenta Agronomist in Eastern Iowa, and he talks about what he is starting to encounter in his territory.
Trower says that even though we probably shaved a few bushels off due to heat stress, we are seeing the plants come into some critical growth stages with moisture available.
Trower says that with input costs being what they are, you can?t afford to let diseases take away bushels from your crops. He talks about how TrivaPro or Miravis Neo fungicides from Syngenta can help.
