High input costs and low commodity prices lead to tight profit margins. Producers are having to look for every advantage they can when it comes to marketing. The Farmers Business Network (FBN) is working to help farmers in that arena.
Crop marketing has evolved over the past 20 to 30 years. It can be a very trying experience. The low markets do not help. We talk with Dr. Kevin McNew, Head of Crop Marketing Analytics and Operations for FBN. He talks about what insight they can give producers.
McNew says they can group producers together to get better prices from buyers. This can get them better prices than if they go it alone.
McNew says they aren?t always selling to one particular buyer. FBN takes an agnostic approach, always searching for the best available deal.
