So many of our goods are sent out through export to other countries. Agriculture is one of many industries that relies on strong trade with partners around the globe. It takes a team of good people who can help us find new markets and strengthen our relations with existing markets to keep the goods flowing out and the money flowing back to our American farmers.
Alexis Taylor is USDA Undersecretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs and an Iowa native. So, she knows the benefits that Iowa Farmers receive from a strong trade platform. Taylor talked to broadcasters at the NAFB Convention in Kansas City, and she told us about a recent trade trip she took to Malaysia and Singapore.
Taylor says that the story of the American farmer is her greatest asset when she makes trade trips abroad. Taylor says that she always wants producers to accompany her on trade trips, so that the buyers and consumers can learn more about where their food is coming from.
