EPA to issue E15 waiver for another summer

?Nothing like waiting til the last minute.?

That is a phrase that we are all used to hearing in any walk of life. It lends itself to the fine art of procrastination in which something is done that should really have been done hours, days, months, and even years ago. It?s even more incredibly frustrating when it is something that was done already and now needs to be done again. It?s aggravating when you must convince a whole new group of individuals of why it needs to be done, and that is aggravating because they should already have taken care of this years ago, especially when it is something that should be a no-brainer to fit into their agenda.

But, again, it is Washington. Speed and common sense are usually in short supply in one building or another at any given time. Trust me, I was just there last week.

The Environmental Protection Agency is set to issue yet another emergency waiver to allow for E15 sales during the summer of 2023. This time the President doesn?t seem to want to make a second trip to Iowa in the third year of his term, and possibly face the aggravated people to whom he pledged to fix this mess over a year ago.

Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig is among many bipartisan leaders in Iowa, and across the Midwest, who have been hot under the collar about this administration?s lack of movement on this issue.

Naig points out that these kinds of moves from the Biden Administration do more to point out a commitment not to the environment, but a commitment to the Electric Vehicle industry.

Naig says we need to be open to all options, not just focused on one solution and one solution only.
