It?s one thing to have a hog nutrition program that helps you to maximize the feed efficiency of your hogs and get them to the optimal weights as efficiently as possible. It?s another thing to know if each hog is benefiting from the products you are giving them and that the system is being properly implemented. Hogs haven?t been known to be the most finicky eaters, and they certainly aren?t going to tell you that they notice a taste difference or that they know you have changed their feed recipe.
But while you can?t have a discussion with the animal, Elanco is bringing you some technology to do the next best thing. A micro-tracer that lets you know if Skysis has gone into the ration or not. Dr. Scott Carr is with Elanco and talks about the Skysis system.
Dr. Carr talks about how the new micro tracer will work and how it will tell you that you are getting the Skysis additive into the feed ration.
This will eliminate the need for diagnostic testing on your feed sample, at least for the Skysis additive. These tests can take days, and you are losing precious time knowing if you?re feeding your hogs the nutrition that they need. Also, it helps you see if it is still there when it is supposed to be coming out. This is especially helpful when you don?t want to mix certain nutritional products.
