“Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven.” -Luke 6:23
Doing any sort of work for Jesus can easily get discouraging if you don’t see any results, especially if you are someone who likes to see results.
Unfortunately, I am someone who needs to see the effect of what I am doing instantly, which doesn’t always work out so well.
Sometimes it’s hard not to feel like what you’re doing is insignificant and no one is benefiting from anything you’re doing.
It’s easy to feel discouraged when you’re a parent trying to raise God fearing kids, or a worker trying to be honest and not cheat the system, or a student trying to witness to your friends.
Doing some of those things seems to not always show any kind of results instantly. Sometimes you don’t see the results ever.
I am slowing learning that you can’t judge the impact you’re making in heaven by the results you think you see on earth.
Be encouraged today that what you’re doing for God doesn’t return void. The work you’re doing as a Christ follower isn’t empty and it’s not in vain.
On earth you might not see that co-worker, kid, friend, spouse, or even stranger come to a knowledge of who Jesus is, but you don’t know what you’ll see in heaven from what you’re doing now on Earth.
Press on towards to the goal of our heaven home.
Prayer: “God, thank you for revealing to me that sometimes the things I am doing now aren’t seen here on this earth. Help me to constantly work for the goal of heaven. In your name I pray, Amen.”
