Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) has always believed in providing hands-on experiences for students, and now there is an additional conservation opportunity on the Dallas County farm with a new water quality watershed. The watershed also serves to help further the state?s goals with the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy. DMACC President Rob Denson said it?s another opportunity for them to practice what they teach.
Denson said he greatly appreciates the partnership with Dallas County, which allows them to teach their students about the best management practices they can use when they work on their own farms.
Denson added that, since all farmers are also conservationists, nobody wants to take better care of the land than them.
