At the end of harvest season, growers do not have much time to take a break and enjoy the hard work of the growing season. It’s also the time when farmers begin to start building a plan for next year.
A big portion of crop yield is tied directly to soil fertility which means that planning for next growing season’s nutrient requirements is critical. Tryston Beyrer is a crop nutrition lead for The Mosaic Company and he explains the relationship between crop yields and soil fertility.
Beyrer says that by determining yield you can calculate the nutrients lost that must be replaced.
He explains the starting point for all growers to determine what is needed for next season’s soil fertility plan.
