This year, the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses is recognizing April 7-13 as Occupational Health Nurses Week, and AgriSafe Network is celebrating by offering 125 continuing nursing education scholarships for the 2024 Nurse Scholar program. The deadline to apply is Monday, April 8th. Laura Siegel, Health Communications Officer with AgriSafe Network, said the program was started to help with the lack of healthcare availability in rural areas.
Siegel said there are a few criteria for applicants, and preference will be given to nurses who are working with rural residents.
Siegel said the Nurse Scholar program is designed to prepare nurses to be able to care for farmers and ranchers specifically.
While the deadline for the scholarship is Monday, April 8th, Siegel said nurses are still encouraged to apply year-round.
