Cover crop acres in Iowa have seen a sharp increase in the past several years. To support cover crop adoption, Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI) and the Iowa Soybean Association offer the Cover Crop Business Accelerator (CCBA) program. The program helps both new and established cover crop business expand and meet rising farmer demand for cover crop seed and application. Ann Krause, PFI’s senior cover crop business coordinator, said she’s excited to see the program enter its sixth year.

Krause said participants receive personalized business coaching, agronomy assistance, and financial support.

Many past participants have mentioned that the networking opportunities provided by this program are particularly helpful.

Krause said applications for the program are now open and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to beginning farmers in Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
