No matter how you look at it, and no matter how much you may want to deny it, farming is beginning to change. The degree of change that is coming will vary depending on your operation. We have talked at great length about conservation farming practices and the changes that we are seeing on that front. However, what about your inputs? Those are beginning to change as well. More companies are putting their resources into finding more sustainable product offerings. They are looking for options that can give farmers the same protection and results that they have come to expect while being more sustainable for the environment they are being used on and more beneficial to the plants they are helping.

Corteva is one of those companies that is working hard to develop more biological methods for plant health and protection. Ryan Ridder is the North American Lead for Fungicides and Biologicals at Corteva, and he talks about the goals the company has for their biologicals.

To that end, Corteva recently launched Utrisha? N. It is a Nitrogen fixating bacteria to help plants optimize their nitrogen throughout the plant?s life cycle.

Ridder says the best feature of Utrisha? N is the minimization of risk.

Not only is the technology available for corn, soybeans, and wheat, but they are also implementing the product into range and pasture, and turf and ornamental applications as well. Ridder says it is about making producers better at nitrogen management.

Environmentalists have long been attacking farmers for nitrogen management, especially as it pertains to ground and surface water quality. Ridder talks about the benefits of using Utrisha? N for balancing the plants’ needs without putting the environment at risk.
