Connecting with consumers online to increase demand for beef

Marketing and promotion of the beef product has changed dramatically over the years.
Social media has become a central focus of connecting with consumers.

Greg Hanes, Cattlemen?s Beef Board CEO, says social media now plays a large role in marketing beef as it gives insight into which consumers are being reached.

Hanes says because much of the advertising such as Beef Checkoff promotions are not seen by producers, some producers have questioned the effectiveness of the promotions.

He says the Beef Checkoff focuses on many different targets when marketing including metropolitan areas with dense populations and not many cattle producers. Urban areas provide many protein options Hanes says, so it is important to remind people that beef is a great choice.
