Last month ended off with the Celebration of Ag Dinner in Cedar Rapids, where producers from all over eastern Iowa gathered in the name of agriculture. This year was a special one as well, since 2023 marks the 35th anniversary of the event. One of the original founders of the event and longtime board member Dwight Hughes said the night is a great opportunity to talk about all of the positive things going on in the ag industry.
Hughes said the event was started in Cedar Rapids due to its status as a massive grain processor.
As we?ve mentioned here before, this year?s featured speaker was NASCAR legend Richard Childress. Hughes said that his high-profile status in NASCAR as well as his roots in agriculture made him a perfect fit to speak at the event.
This year?s Celebration of Ag Dinner saw record attendance with 990 reservations and raised over $10,000 for the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program?s meat processing program.
