The California general assembly’s approval of E15 sales last week is expected to boost corn demand at a time growers are preparing to harvest a record crop. The law is expected to be signed by Governor Gavin Newsom and will be a big breakthrough for the ethanol industry.
The Renewable Fuels Association’s Troy Bredenkamp says that once Governor Newsom signs the E15 bill, California will become the largest E15 consuming state in the country.
Bredenkamp adds that this comes at a time when US corn growers are expected to harvest a record corn crop.
He says this law from California also signals political willingness for year-round E15 sales nationwide.
